ArqFilmFest 2013

This second version of Arqfilmfest delivered four days of film and architecture on remarkable locations in downtown Santiago de Chile: Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM) and M100. From 17 to 20 October 2013, the event engaged hundreds of spectators to watch films and discuss the challenges and opportunities for our built environment.
The diverse selection of 117 films, documentaries and fiction, included 44 films that were selected for the international film competition “The city is …”.
The winning national films of this competition were:
“Blanco Oscuro” by Eduardo Pezoa (Chile, 2012) in the category of fiction feature film;
“Extinción” by Natalia Luque (Chile, 2011), category short film documentary;
“Los ojos de Ruskin”, category experimental short film (Chile, 2013);
“Piling Up” by Cristobal Palma in architectural record short film (Chile, 2012);
“La Mudanza” by Tatiana Lorca in the category of feature-length documentary (Chile, 2011).
The international winners were:
“Vienna waits for you” by Dominik Harti in short fiction film (Austria/Chile, 2013);
“Meeting at the building” by Carlota Coloma in short film documentary (Spain, 2012);
“Hello, Ms. Hock” in experimental short film (Spain, 2012 );
“Hacer ciudad” by Guillermo Amato in feature-length documentary (Mexico, 2011).
The jury was composed of:
– Christian Ramirez, journalist and film critic,
– Martin Schmidt, Director of the School of Architecture of the Creative Campus of Andrés Bello University,
– Fernando Lavanderos, film and television director (“Las cosas como son”).
Toledotaegui co-produced ArqFilmFest 2013. Manuel Toledo was in charge of international relations and took part in the curatorial process.
